There is definitely a mountain of money being made, no doubt about it.īut what about gamers? We’re getting the short end of the stick here. Now, to be fair, I’ve had them on preorder since they were announced. Not only do I have the Elden Ring for PC, but I also went out and bought the Elden Ring Collector’s Edition for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. I’m sure they’re smiling from heaven in their ivory tower because that’s exactly what people would do double dip. Certainly, this is a good thing for publishers, as they will eventually get money from the people who will eventually turn to the hype. ![]() ![]() Not including it is bad for the developers and bad for the gamers playing the game right now. This is something that Fromsoftware should have had in mind when developing Elden Ring, and not including it is simply insufficient. However, one glaring issue is bothering me, and that is the lack of cross-platform play. It's interesting to note that FromSoftware opted to remove the multiplayer features players came to be used to with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. With no official word from the developers, the prospect of Elden Ring being crossplay is looking not great, and Elden Ring will more than likely have no crossplay on launch. Instead, FromSoftware highlights the four-player co-op as the big feature of Elden Ring, and rightfully so. You would think if crossplay were to be a thing, it would be mentioned at least once by the developers. Unfortunately, this portion of the leak seems to be incorrect. This same leak said that Elden Ring would have crossplay or cross platform capabilities between Xbox and PC, but would work to integrate PlayStation crossplay. The leak went on to correctly predict the four-player co-op capabilities, surely a feature that got circulated a lot during the end of development, as for a Soulsborne game, this is a big deal.
